Hoi An. I looked forward to coming here for a while now, but due to the Typhoon I had to delay my arrival by a couple days. The city as well as its neighbour Danang were predicted to be exactly where the Typhoon would make landfall, which is why the area was partially evacuated in the past days. Luckily the Typhoon made a turn and missed both towns (as well as Hue, where I spent my last days) and I decided to come here as quickly as possible once the Typhoon had passed by. After almost a week in Hue I really did not see any reason to stay there even one night longer.
A bus ride from Hue to Hoi An takes around 3 1/2 hours and for some reason the company uses sleeper buses for the trip, which really makes the hours fly by.
Hoi An is a cute little town on the vietnamese coast that features some nice beaches as well as an old quarter that is even protected by the UNESCO. For that reason, the city is overflowing with tourists who stroll through the small alleys of the old town in order to experience a picture perfect Vietnam. Rating from what I have seen of the town yet, I think the old town is not the most interesting spot. I personally enjoyed motorbiking into the outskirts of the city, where the people are nicer and the houses don’t look as perfect. But that may only be me.
Here are some images from today, enjoy Hoi An:
