My trip from Udon Thani to Ubon Ratchathani went as expected and took me around 6 or 6 1/2 hours. Ubon Ratchathani is, as I had already learnt when researching the place in advance to coming here, a rather unspecial and “boring” city. At least it is usually I imagine, today its quite busy with the preparations of the annual candle festival that will take place tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
This festival is the main reason why I decided to come all the way here and I already got to see a few of the huge, beautifully designed wax sculptures. The preparations look like there would be some festivities already tonight, so I am looking forward to nice street shops, music and more. And for everyone who cannot imagine how these huge wax sculptures look like, here are some impressions from the preparations today:
