Today my first week of Thailand is coming to an end, and so is my time in Bangkok. My “plan” was to stay in my Bangkok hostel until tuesday, but yesterday I was told that all rooms are booked out for Monday Night, so I will leave Bangkok tomorrow.
So, the question was where to go from here. Many people recommended me the north of Thailand, and I have also gotten a few impressions of the areas north of Bangkok when visiting Ayutthaya and Khao Yai, so thats what I am going to do. However, I dont want to simply take a plane or train to Chiang Mai in the far north of Thailand. I rather want to travel slowly, and really take in the areas between the cities. So my next stop will be Kanchanaburi, around 130km North-West of Bangkok.
I was told that their famous River Kwai Bridge and the impressive nature and geography around the city are really fantastic, and that its definitely worth it to stop by and stay a few days, rather than only taking a daytrip from Bangkok.
So tomorrow, if everything works out, I will be taking an early bus from Bangkoks Southern Bus Terminal (which is actually situated west of the citycentre) that should get me to Kanchanaburi within two hours. Lets see how this works out.
I will keep you posted!
